About Hawker Monobloc Batteries
Hawker Monobloc batteries are pure lead, thin-plate rechargeable batteries that offer numerous advantages. Because of their patented starved-electrolyte system, they are truly unique batteries. The 2.5Ah, 5.0Ah and 8.0Ah battery models are all UL 1989 recognized components, which offer extreme temperature performance and long service life. They are classified for being nonspillable–resulting in simple and inexpensive shipping.
The benefits of Hawker Monobloc batteries include spade terminals for quick and easy electrical connections. They also allow for high 8 psi vent pressure-minimizing venting, even in high temperatures. Additionally, they have the ability to be interconnected in series or parallel for additional voltage or capacity
Charging Recommendations
Generally, a battery may be recharged using either a constant voltage (CV) charger or a constant current (CC) charger, and in some instances a modification of either or both. The exact application chosen depends on the time and economic constraints imposed by the system. Constant current charging is widely used in cyclic applications that need a recharge in a relatively short period of time.
Constant voltage charging where a single voltage level is applied across the battery terminals, is the most suitable method of recharging Cyclon batteries. Depending on the CV chargers current limit, it is possible to recharge these batteries from a 100% discharged condition, to better than 95% state of charge in less than one hour when using only the cyclic charge voltage. With Hawker batteries, there isnt any need to limit the inrush current to the battery during the initial phase of constant voltage charging. The internal resistance of Hawker Cyclon single cells and their monoblocs allow for a large inrush current without damage.
